RAJOURI, Mar 15: While bandh in Nowshera and Kalakote towns continued in support of public demand, a special delegation of senior Government officers led by Divisional Commissioner Jammu visited these towns besides Sunderbani and held talks with the Joint Action Committee (JAC) members to resolve the 28th days long issue.
Today a team of senior officers including Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Hemant Sharma, IGP Jammu S D Singh, Secretary GAD Khursheed Shah, Commissioner/ Secretary Revenue Shahid Inayatullah and Commissioner/ Secretary Finance Lokesh Kumar Jha arrived at Nowshera and held talks with a 10-member of JAC. The members presented their view point and demanded that they demanded ADC at the first stage and then district status and nothing less than this. The officers asked them to call off agitation as they will take up their issue with the Government. The JAC members however, said that they will continue with their proposed programme of Jammu Chalo and ongoing agitation till Government issues order. DC and SSP Rajouri also accompanied the delegation.
In Kalakote, the officer’s delegation had meeting with a 12-members JAC led by former MLA Rashpal Singh. The members demanded that they are firm on their demand of posting of ADC and go with Nowshera if it is given district status. The people also rejected the plea to call off agitation. Later, they had meeting with the Sunderbani JAC and they also projected the same demand.
The agitating JAC members of Nowshera have given `Jammu Chalo call on March 17′. The people of Nowshera town and adjoining areas assembled at main bazaar in the morning and held strong protest demonstration. After passing through various markets during protest march, they reached dharna site in the Tehsil complex. Many JAC members held strong protest. Several locals leaders addressed gathering criticized local MLA/ MLC besides BJP Ministers and the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti.
Kalakote town also continued indefinite bandh today, seeking separate ADC’s posting. Entire market remained closed in the town and the vehicles also remained off the road. The Kalakote JAC led by Rashpal Singh (Ex-MLA), Randhir Singh and others took out strong protest march in the town and then moved to the Tehsil complex. They have rejected the Govt formula of rotational ADCs for Kotranka and Kalakote.
Ex- MLA Rashpal Singh from National Conference criticized the present Government for its wrong decision. He said both BJP and PDP are responsible for the present situation in these towns. He said the Govt decision of rotational ADCs was not acceptable to the people.
