JAMMU, Apr 6: Kashmiri Pandits want transparent and permanent rehabilitation as they are refugees in their own country and are waiting for rehabilitation for last 32 years said All India Migrant Camp Coordination Committee (AIMCCC) chief, Desh Ratten Pandita while addressing a meeting at Jagti township today.
He said KPs are not migratory birds who move from one country to another during a particular seasons. “We are neither waiting nor ready to accept picnic rehabilitation, limited upto Government quarters,. We are refugees and have lost everything. State and Centre Governments have failed to redress our long standing issue and no Centrally sponsored scheme was implemented on us,. We are no where on the agenda of Central Government”, he added.
He said some community people are giving wrong information to Union Home Minister and Ministry of Home Affairs regarding to rehabilitation and return, for their personal interests. These people have nothing, neither for national interest nor for KPs. Their interest is only to get flats at Srinagar so that they may enjoy in Summer season, he added.
He said “We are refugees and are fighting for survival of the community. We lost culture, trade, business, jobs, orchids, land and home land,. We are farmers and losers and we have to go back. Therefore it is important for Government to talk with the people who are really effected”, he added.
He said “Our houses were burnt and damaged but the ex-gratia has not been released so for. There are hundreds of problems pending but no one bothers for it. AIMCCC leader’s demanded restoration of migrants land and property which was encroached during last over three decades in Valley. Government needs to change its policies. Kashmir problem will never be solved until minority communities will be given full protection , support and political empowerment”, he added.
