LUCKNOW, Mar 14:
Expressing concern over the damage caused by unseasonal rains and hailstorms in Uttar Pradesh, Congress state unit president Ajay Kumar Lallu demanded that the Government immediately provide the victim family members of the deceased with Rs 20 lakhs financial compensation.
Mr Lallu on Saturday said that due to the unseasonal rains and hailstorms, 36 people have died in around a dozen districts in the state including Sitapur, Lakhimpur, Jaunpur, Barabaki, Sonbhadra and Bahraich.
On the other hand, wheat, barley, peas, grams, lentil and mustard crops have suffered damage due to the rains while mango crops have also suffered serious damage. (PTI)
