JAMMU, Feb 17: Internal Complaint Committee against Sexual Harassment (IICASH) and G20 Awareness Committee under the aegis of IQAC (Internal Quality Assurance Cell) of Govt. SPMR College of Commerce organized a symposium on ‘Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment under’ the patronship of Principal Dr. Surinder Kumar Sharma.
Dr. Monika Malhotra convener IICASH presented the formal welcome address and threw light on the vision and mission of G20 (W20) to focus on removing all the barriers to women-led development and to ensure an enabling environment and ecosystem for women to thrive, transcend and transform their lives as well as others. She lauded the efforts of IICASH and G20 Awareness Committee for organizing the symposium for the benefit of the students.
Participants from all the semesters Anamika (Sem 1),Rasik Bali (Sem 1), and Shiv Gupta (Sem 5) expressed their views on the topic that W20 ‘s primary objective is to ensure gender considerations and to create a world of equality and equity where every woman lives with dignity.
Students and faculty of the college actively participated in the interactive session and shared their thoughts on importance of women economic empowerment. The event was attended by more than 100 students .The entire event was coordinated and conducted under the supervision of Dr. Monika Malhotra Coordinator, IQAC and Convener IICASH and G20 Awareness Committee.
Prof. Shafkat Jahangir, Dr. Sandaya Bhardwaj Controller Examination, Prof. Savita Jamwal, HoD Economics,Prof Deepshikha ,Prof. Harpreet Kour, Dr. Rita and Dr Anu attended the program. The proceedings of the event were conducted by Prof. Apfan Arif, HoD Urdu and the activity concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Sarabjeet Kour Sudan.
