Govt has taken half-hearted decisions on employees’ demands: AJKLTF

JAMMU, July 5: All Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh Teachers Federation (AJKTF)today accused the Government of taking half hearted measures for damage control in the wake of recent knee jerk in Lok Sabha elections.
Talking to reporters here, today president of the Association Balwan Singh said that the Government took half hearted decisions like increasing retirement age of employees form 58 years to 60 years while it ignored the major demands which were agreed in principle long back. They included regularization of daily wagers, causal employees and removal of pay anomalies of different cadres.
Taking strong exception to what he called the existing state of anarchy and mess in the School Education Department so far as violation of transfer norms is concerned, Mr Singh said that the Jammu district has become hub of this mess. He said over 400 masters are irrationally deployed while 130 posts of masters are lying vacant.
He said the fate of masters transferred from outside is hanging in balance for eight -nine months and some of them are without salary.
He said SIE and DIET Jammu have become the dump houses of blue eyed persons irrespective of availability of posts. He said the Government has till date failed to concede the demands despite repeated pleas by the Federation.
He said the teaching community is being discriminated against their non teaching counter parts for leave encashment at the time of retirement and the Federation had demanded for immediate incorporation of leave encashment in respect of teachers.
Singh said thousands of under graduate teachers are facing stagnation as the State Government has not released the senior teacher grade to them for decades and demanded the same be released. Besides the anomaly in masters grade is persisting and the same be removed.
He also demanded restoration of Muffasal Allowance for teaching and non teaching employees filling up of vacant posts of masters, teachers and lecturers.
Mr Singh on behalf of Federation has stressed on unity among the employees.
Joginder Singh Manhas, Sudershan Sharma, Naresh Sharma, Naresh Chowdhary, Chaman Lal Sharma, Shamsher Singh, Daljit Singh Bhan, Shamsher Singh, Tara Chand, Yaseen Ahmed and other representatives of Federation were present in the press conference.
