Govt teacher booked for beating girl student

JAMMU, Dec 7: A teacher of a Government school has been booked for allegedly beating class IV girl student for coming late to school in Najeri Jamula area of district Rajouri.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajouri Mubashir Latifi told that right arm of a nine-year-old girl Sonika, daughter of Bablu Kumar of Najeri Jamula, was fractured after she was allegedly caned by a teacher for coming late to the school.
He said that girl, a Class IV student of Government Middle School, Najeri Jamula, district Rajouri in her statement told that she got late to reach the school following which the teacher Dheeraj Kumar, resident of Muradpur beat her with wood stick.
The girl was hospitalized as she suffered a fracture in her right hand and discharged later after treatment, he informed.
On the complaint made by victim’s father Bablu Singh, a case under FIR number 648/ 12 has been registered at Police Station Rajouri and manhunt was launched to apprehend the absconding teacher, SP said.
