Govt teacher dies in road mishap

UDHAMPUR, Aug 17: A Government school teacher died and another person was critically injured when a car rolled down from Thildu Bridge on Dudu-Kirchi road in Basantgarh, here this afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Neha Thakur, wife of Darshan Singh of Chigla Balota, Tehsil Basantgarh, who was posted as a teacher in Govt Middle School Thirdu.
She was reportedly driving the car and died on the spot while the injured, identified as Mohd Isahaq (40), son of Ab Gani of Dudu, was shifted to PHC Latti for treatment where doctors referred him to GMC Hospital Jammu in view of his serious condition.
The accident took place around 2 pm when the Eco Car, bearing registration number JK14F-2449, was on way from Dudu to Kirchi. The car slipped from the bridge and rolled down in deep Nallah, resulting into on the spot death of teacher and serious injuries to the other person, who was owner of the vehicle.
Meanwhile, a motorcyclist and his pillion rider were seriously injured when their bike skidded off the road near Darsu village on Dhar Road Udhampur. Locals took the injured persons to District Hospital Udhampur where doctors referred them to GMC Jammu Hospital.
The injured were identified as Manjeet Singh (20), son of Bupinder Singh and Sandeep Singh (20) son of Rushpul Singh, both resident of Dhama, Tehsil Majalta.
