Govt to absorb contractual, DRWs

Srinagar, Oct 10: Minister for Finance, Haseeb Drabu, today said the Government is devising a comprehensive roadmap for absorbing the contractual and daily-rated workers in a phased manner.
Responding to the issue of NYCs, contractual and daily-rated workers, raised by Congress MLA GM Saroori and NC MLA Ali Mohammad Sagar, the Finance Minister said 61000 families were cheated and deceived by the previous regime by engaging persons under different categories without following proper procedure. “Unfortunately, those who made these illegal and illegitimate appointments are now creating ruckus over the issue,” he said.
Drabu said that he assured these workers that Government is devising a road map to address their issue. “I visited the protesting contractual and daily wagers. I have assured them that the Government is developing a roadmap to address their issues,” Drabu informed the House.
“Although no procedures were followed by the previous regime while making these engagements, but being a social issue, I want to inform the House that the present Government is serious on the issue and we will take some positive action soon,” the Minister said and added that a comprehensive roadmap is being formulated for their regularization in a phased manner.
Darbu said that a committee has already been forced to address their issue and at the same time there should be no problem to the Government as well. “No Government can adjust them in one go,” Drabu said.
