Govt to construct 150 more shops at Jagti township

SRINAGAR,  June 13: The Government has decided to construct 150 more shops at Jagti township to provide livelihood to unemployed displaced youth. The decision to this effect was taken in a review meeting here yesterday which was chaired by Minister of State with independent charge of Relief, Rehabilitation and Revenue Aijaz Ahmed Khan.
The meeting among others was attended by Revenue Secretary, Vinod Kaul, Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner, R K Pandita and MD SICOP Mr  Tickoo.
The Minister issued instructions to Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner to expedite the process of construction of shopping complex at Jagti by utilizing the funds saved from Jagti township so that the long pending demand of the camp inmates is fulfilled.
The meeting also discussed the power problem of the camp and it was decided that the camp inmates dependent on cash relief and pension will be charged Rs 350 as power tariff per month for half kv of electricity on flat rate while the employee category will be charged Rs 700 for one kv as per flat rate.
It however said that in case the camp inmates want to go by metre the option will be open for them. However the meeting said categorical no to free power supply to the camp. After signing the agreement the migrants in the camp will get 16 to 18 hour power supply a day otherwise the present system of power supply will continue, it added.
The meeting also reviewed facilities being provided to employees appointed under PM’s package and putting up  in various camps in Kashmir Valley. The Minister issued directives to SICOP MD to expedite the construction of incomplete quarters by completing them within 15 days so that they are allotted to the employees.
The Minister also stressed that proper facilities including water supply arrangements be made in these quarters so that the employees putting up there are not put to hardships.
