JAMMU, Apr 13: Minister for Hajj, Auqaf and Horticulture, Abdul Rehman Veeri today said the Government proposes to construct a multi-storey complex on the Waqaf land near Wazarat road here.
During his visit to the site, the Minister instructed the Auqaf authorities to engage a reputed consultant for formulation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) so that work on the project could be started at the earliest. He said the land measuring about 6 kanals has the huge commercial value and the same can be utilized to boost the income of Auqaf.
Chief Executive Officer, Auqaf Department, Administrator Auqaf Jammu besides other senior officers and engineers accompanied the Minister during the tour.
The Minister also visited graveyard at Gujjar Nagar and took stock of the works being carried out at the site. He directed the concerned for time-bound levelling of the graveyard and completion of other works, being carried out at an estimated cost of Rs 29 lakh. He directed the concerned to ensure eviction of encroachers from the area.
Administrator Auqaf Islamia Jammu apprised the Minister that Rs. 13 lakh have been expended on levelling and other works of the graveyard so far.
The Minister also took stock of upgradation works at Hajj House Jammu. He said the Hajj complex would be modernized by investing Rs 1 crore, adding that each room would be provided with AC and bathroom facility besides other requisite facilities for visitors. He also directed for early completion of elevator work of the complex.
The Minister stressed upon the Auqaf authorities to work with devotion and dedication for raising the assets of Auqaf. He also instructed for proper maintenance of Auqaf assets. He directed the concerned officers to ensure time bound completion of ongoing projects with the assurance of utilization of standard material and judicious use of funds.
