JAMMU, Feb 26: Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Saifullah Mir today assured the Legislative Assembly that Minister of State for Home Sajjad Ahmed Kitchloo would make a statement in the House on Friday on charges that Rs 3.5 lakh were spent on fuel of security vehicles of Independent MLA Engineer Rashid, who has neither taken security nor security vehicle from police.
Saifullah responded when Mohammad Sharief Niaz, who was on the Chair, said Speaker Mubarak Gul has already sought report from the Government and “I also direct the Government to send the report to the House”.
PDP MLA Basharat Bukhari raised the issue in the House during Zero Hour saying that Engineer Rashid has repeatedly been raising the issue that Government has shown Rs 3.5 lakh worth expenditure on fuel on Rashid’s security vehicle.
“Rashid is repeatedly saying that he has not taken any security or security vehicle. The House is being misled by the Government by showing expenditure of Rs 3.5 lakh. No one is ready to listen to Mr Rashid. Instead, he was being marshaled out for raising the issue,” Mr Bukhari said.
“If Engineer Rashid is right, tell us where the fuel money has gone. If he is wrong, take action against him,” Mr Bukhari said, adding as far as his information is concerned, Rashid has left his security vehicle at Handwara police station and even tyres of the vehicles have been damaged.
Engineer Rashid had raised the same issue repeatedly prompting the Speaker to issue a direction to the Government to make a statement in the House.
