Govt to launch crop insurance scheme for farmers

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Government will launch a crop insurance scheme for the benefit of the farmers in the State.
Replying to the supplementaries to the main question by Mubarak Gul in Assembly here today, Minister for Agriculture Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura said the Government would launch a crop insurance scheme for the benefit of the farmers in the State.
The Minister said the survey report of damaged crops due to rains and recent floods in the State have been formulated by the department. He said once the funds in this regard are received, relief would be provided to the affected farmers.
The minister said the development of agriculture in the State is priority of the Government. He said all requisite measures would be taken to promote agriculture sector in the State, as it is the backbone of state’s economy.
Lone said that several state and central schemes are in vogue to provide high yield seeds, quality fertiliser besides farming tools and machinery as well as to generate awareness about latest techniques of agriculture cultivation to the farmers of the State.
The Agriculture Minister said that incentives on various inputs like seeds, agriculture implements/tools, irrigation infrastructure and other agriculture machinery is being provided to the farmers to boost the agriculture produce. (AGENCIES)
