JAMMU, Oct 12: Union Ministry of Tourism is spending over Rs 84 crore for developing Sudhmahadev and Mantalai as one of the best tourist destinations in Udhampur district of Jammu province and the ongoing projects, after their completion, will not only attract tourists but also boost economy of the area.
BJP national vice-president & J&K Prabhari, Avinash Rai Khanna, said this, while referring to an official communication received by him from Union Minister of State, Tourism & Culture, Prahlad Singh Patel, in response to his letter regarding development of Sudhmahadev and Mantalai.
Avinash Rai Khanna said that the official communication mentions that the Union Tourism Ministry, under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme, has sanctioned the project “Integrated Development of Tourist facilities at Mantalai-Sudhmahadev-Patnitop under Himalyan Circuit”.
It has mentioned that the major components covered under Mantalai include landscaping and beautification, lightening and illumination, solid waste management, signage, development of internal pathway, Tourist facilitation centre, security fencing, open Air Amphitheatre with green rooms and tensile roofing, walking and jogging track, gender based toilet, CCTV cameras, guard rooms, rain shelter, solar power, etc for Rs. 82.16 crore. The major components covered under Sudhmahadev includes tourist cafeteria with hall and waiting area and benches, landscaping and beautification and solar lighting for Rs. 1.97 crore.
Avinash Rai Khanna said that he himself has visited these areas and was very much attracted by the beautiful lush green spots which should be developed and brought on the tourism map so that the outside world knows about such hidden nature gifted places.
As Mantalai and Sudhmahadev also have treasures of rich ancient religious monuments and temples, they would naturally proved to be hub of religious pilgrimage as well, Khanna added and expressed hope that the projects will be completed in the shortest period.
