JAMMU, Feb 23: Minister for Planning and Development, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra today said that Government will take up at the appropriate forum the issue of Baramulla-Kupwara railway line for early start of the project.
In reply to the question of PDP MLA, Abdul Haq Khan, the Planning Minister said that subsequent to the commissioning of Qazigund-Baramulla railway link, the State Government had requested Government of India to extend the rail connectivity from Baramulla to Kupwara.
Northern Railway Construction Organization has carried out a preliminary engineering-cum-traffic survey for the new line from Baramulla to Kupwara and the cost of the project has been worked out at Rs 640.57 crore, the Minister said.
