JAMMU, June 6: As its “ambitious” new contractual recruitment policy bitterly backfired following massive opposition, the Government will soon unveil a new one as a Cabinet Sub-Committee is in the process of giving “final” shape to it.
“A new recruitment policy will soon be unveiled to engage qualified youth so that shortage of doctors in peripheral areas is addressed,” Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said today while interacting with prominent political and civil society members of Rajouri district.
Referring to the acute shortage of specialist doctors and teachers in remote districts of the State, the Chief Minister said, “A Cabinet Sub-Committee has been formed to give final shape to the new recruitment policy.”
On April 19, Jammu and Kashmir Special Recruitment Ordinance-2015 was approved by the Cabinet and it was later submitted to the Governor, who returned it.
Under the new policy, the persons appointed on contractual basis would have been regularised after putting in seven years of “satisfactory service”. The minimum pay during the contractual period of an appointee would have been anything between Rs 10,000 and Rs 12,000 per month.
Complimenting the people for voting overwhelmingly for change, Mufti Sayeed, today said the process of transforming the system of governance in the State has already begun so that it is made fair and accountable.
The Chief Minister said this while interacting with prominent political and civil society members of Rajouri district this morning.
Responding to some of the developmental issues raised by the civil society members, Mufti Sayeed announced Rs.50 lakh for creation of a Transformer Bank in the district to meet urgent public demands of the people. He also announced Rs 50 lakh each for development of sports fields in the four constituencies of Rajouri district.
The Chief Minister also announced release of balance funds for completion of Community Hall in Rajouri, which has been a long pending demand of the people. He also assured that Mankote Park, which has been developed by the State’s Tourism Department over 100 kanals, will be maintained round-the-year to facilitate visitors.
Placing high priority on road connectivity, the Chief Minister observed that the Mughal Road, which connects Pir Panjal with Kashmir valley, will be developed as an alternate National Highway.
He said he has taken up the issue of expediting four-lanning of Srinagar-Jammu National Highway as well as improvement in road stretch from Thannamandi to Buffliaz with the BRO.
“We are also exploring the option of constructing tunnels to make the Mughal Road an all-weather road,” he added.
