JAMMU, Dec 6: All J&K Sikh Unity Forum (SUF) today demanded Social Welfare Minister (SWM), Sakeena Itoo, to stop the large scale corruption in Social Welfare Department in supplying eatables for mid-day meals meant for poor school children of Government Schools.
The convener of the Forum, Rajinder Singh along with Nirmal Singh, Tajinder Singh, Jasmeet Singh, Saroop Singh, Balwant Singh and Sarabjeet Singh, flayed the Social Welfare Minister for the corruption prevalent in the department. They alleged that the consumables like milk powder, Dalda ghee, etc supplied by the department are mostly expired and pulses, rice, sugar and other materials are of sub-standard form and sometimes 50% spoiled, which can make the children ill if eaten.
The Forum demanded the Minister to take immediate steps to check this malpractice in the department and take stern action against those who are involved in this dirty game.
