Govt urged to take effective steps for curbing accidents

JAMMU, Mar 17: Senior Congress leader, Rajesh Gupta today voiced for taking effective steps for eradication of traffic accidents.
Addressing a press conference, Gupta said that past two years have seen more than 50 accidents but despite this the Government did not initiate any steps for curbing the same.
These accidents did not happen due to ill-luck but due to negligence, drivers’ over drinking, overloading and over speed, he said adding, all these maladies are within the notice of the Government but it did not bother to take some concrete steps to cure them.
He demanded the Government to make special teams for filling patches on the roads, where there is requirement for giving a clear passage to vehicles, alcohol test for drivers suspected of driving in alcoholic conditions and if someone is found indulged, he must be permanently banned from driving.
Gupta also appealed Chief Minister to appoint a commission or a committee to suggest some measures for eradication of accidents in future. Besides he demanded to make available emergency trauma ambulances at regular intervals on the National Highways and trauma hospitals on some places on National Highway.
