KARGIL, Mar 8: Former Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC Kargil and Councillor Baroo, Haji Mohammad Haneefa Jan has expressed concern over utilizing the funds which were meant for Water Supply Scheme under AMRUT in a hasty way without formulating a better and feasible plan to meet the aspirations of the people of Kargil in providing them uninterrupted and clean water supply throughout the year.
In a statement issued here, today Haji Mohammad Haneefa Jan said that as per reliable sources he has received information that  the present council is working on the existing scheme of water supply under already sanctioned project component of AMRUT for providing of drinking water to areas of Kargil town instead of working on new and practically feasible water supply scheme.
He said that on the behest of the higher authorities, certain section of the town is exclusively being benefitted and in spite of exploring the requirements of the people hasty decisions are being taken to expend the funds provided under AMRUT scheme.
Terming the proposed water Supply Scheme as already failure, Haneefa Jan said that it has not fulfilled the needs of the citizens as the source of water from river Wakha always remains under flood threat during Summer and several time floods had caused damage to it and water always remains muddy and totally unfit for drinking purpose.
He said that most part of the town settled at higher sides are not being provided water through proposed scheme depriving these inhabitants of the benefits of this scheme.
