Srinagar, June 10: Agriculture Minister G N Lone today said the PDP-BJP Government will resign if Congress proves its charge that the sugar meant for public distribution elsewhere in Kashmir has been diverted to poll-bound Anantnag Assembly segment.
Congress MLA Nawang Rigzin Jora informed the Speaker as soon as the House assembled that there were allegations that all sugar meant for public distribution through CAPD outlets has been diverted to Anantnag Assembly segment where from Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is contesting.
At this point, the Agriculture Minister intervened. “If he can prove it (charge), this Government will resign. You are leveling baseless charges.”
Jora said he was raising the issue in the House as it has been reported in a newspaper.  Jora was supported by senior National Conference MLA Ali Mohammad Sagar who said it was the job of the Government to prove the allegations wrong.
“Whether the report is true or not, it is you to prove it,” Sagar added. The issue had been raised by NC MLA from Homshalibugh Abdul Majeed Larmi on Wednesday in the House. ”
“We want to know from the Government whether it has diverted the sugar meant for distribution in other constituencies of Anantang district to the Assembly segment where the Chief Minister is a candidate,” Larmi had said.
