JAMMU, Dec 7: Minister for Public Works and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Rehman Veeri today said it is important to deliver basic amenities at the doorstep of the people and Government has taken various steps in this regard. He said the Government is laying stress on upgrading the road infrastructure to provide better road connectivity to the people of the State.
The Minister said this while interacting with various deputations from Jammu region who called on him and apprised him about the various issues pertaining to road connectivity in their respective areas.
Among others, Chief Engineer R&B Jammu, Alok Mengi, Chief Engineer PMGSY Jammu, Superintendent Engineer R&B, Jammu besides senior officers of the concerned departments were present.
The Minister gave a patient hearing to all the deputations and passed on spot directions to the concerned officers to redress their grievances on priority. The Minister said roads are vital for development of any area and stressed that a well-knit plan has been envisaged to improve the road connectivity in the state.
Veeri asked the officers to personally monitor the works so that these are completed within the stipulated time. He enjoined upon them to work efficiently so that deserving people benefit from the welfare schemes of the Government.
He also directed the officers to formulate DPRs for new projects and submit the same to the concerned agencies at the earliest.
The Minister reiterated the commitment of Government to give a corruption free, efficient and accessible administration to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He also asked the officers to make periodical reviews of the progress of various ongoing developmental works in their concerned areas.
