Govt yet to complete enrollment of voters

Srinagar, Mar 6: The Government today said that they have yet to complete the enrollment of voters who are going to vote in the upcoming 16 the Lok Sabha elections slated on April 30.
Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Farooq Ahmad Shah, told reporters here that the process of enrollment was going on and the administration hoped that it would be completed till the elections.
Farooq said the notification for filing the nominations of elections will be issued on April 2.
“The last date of filing of nominations is April 9, scrutiny of nominations will take place on April 10 and the date of withdrawal of candidature is April 12 and the day of polling in Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency is April 30,” he siad.
He said Model Code of Conduct has come into operation with immediate effect with the announcement of the parliamentary elections on March 5, 2014.
The District Election Officer said that all BLOs of Srinagar shall be available at their respective polling stations from 9 March during office hours so that the intending eligible persons can register themselves for obtaining EPIC cards.
“A 24×7 Election Cell has been set up to coordinate the election related activities in the district. A dedicated 24×7 helpline on telephone number 2476145 has also been set up to address various queries and complaints,” he added.
He said strict action will be taken against those officials found in violation of Model Code of Conduct, including those who have transferred some revenue officials on March 5.
