NEW DELHI : Top BCCI sources today distanced themselves from IPL Chairman Rajeev Shukla, who on Thursday all but confirmed that the Indian government has given the national cricket board the go-ahead for the India-Pakistan cricket series to be hosted by Sri Lanka next month.
”Let him (Shukla) say whatever he wants, but the central government is yet to take a final call on the proposed India-Pakistan cricket series,” the sources told. The government also yesterday made it clear that there has been no decision yet on holding the bilateral cricket series, days after the BCCI sought government’s clearance on resuming cricketing ties with the arch-rivals. “No decision has been taken on the India-Pakistan cricket series,” External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup said in Malta. Swarup, who was in Valletta, accompanying External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, for the 24th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting told reporters when asked if the government had taken a call on the matter.
