JAMMU, Nov 12: The Kashmiri Pandit Sabha (KPS) Jammu held a meeting today under the chairmanship of K. K. Khosa its president to review the situation emanating from the insensitive and shocking attitude of the Lt.Governor’s administration in issuing threatening orders against the hapless PM package employees. While the UT Government is well aware that it has failed to provide security and also in creating a congenial environment in the Valley where the Kashmiri Pandits and other minorities could live and work without any fear, such repressive measures and a rigid attitude will be resisted by the minorities in general and the KP community in particular.
Unabated targeted killings of the minorities including the Kashmiri Pandits especially in the aftermath of the abrogation of Articles 370 & 35A are a stark reality and remaining in denial about the undercurrents will further complicate the situation in Kashmir. The top administration in Kashmir province seems to be trying its best to control the situation but the situation on the ground is a matter of grave concern still. The members unanimously resolved that in case the Government does not give up their rigidity the community might have to further intensify its agitation.
It said there is a total disconnect between the public of all hues in Kashmir and the UT Government resulting in a feeling of insecurity and fear even for those Kashmiri Pandits who have been living in Kashmir peacefully for the past three decades.
The sabha appealed the GoI and the UT Government to give up its rigid attitude and release the salaries of all minority community employees without insisting for their resumption of duties at present. Let normalcy return to the Valley so that these employees feel confident and secure once again. The UT Government must understand that they have been rendering their services in the Valley with dedication for the past more than a decade and it is only now that the conditions in the valley have deteriorated.
