Goyal meets his Swedish counterpart, discusses investment opportunities in India

NEW DELHI: Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Wednesday discussed Minister for Foreign Trade of Sweden Anna Hallberg and discussed specific steps to further boost investment opportunities in India and take the relations between the countries to the next level.
“Met Anna Hallberg, Minister for Foreign Trade of Sweden. We discussed specific steps to further boost investment opportunities in India and take the ‘Samband’ between our countries to the next level,” Mr Goyal said in his tweet.
Mr Goyal is on a two-day trip to Sweden to attend the 19th Session of the Indo-Swedish Joint Commission for Economic, Industrial and Scientific Cooperation in Stockholm on Wednesday.
The Government will protect the interest of domestic industry and the people of India before entering into any free-trade agreement, he also said.
Earlier, Mr Goyal met Ibrahim Baylan, Minister for Business, Industry and Innovation of Sweden and discussed ways to enhance sharing of path-breaking innovation & technology for the benefit of both nations.
He also addressed CEOs of large companies during the India Sweden Business Leaders Roundtable in Stockholm.
“Spoke on ways to strengthen India-Sweden economic & trade cooperation alongside Anna Hallberg, Swedish Minister for Foreign Trade & Tomas Eneroth, Minister for Infrastructure,” he said in another tweet.
The session will be co-chaired by Mr Goyal and his counterpart in Sweden Ms Hallberg.
