Graduate Enggs discuss burning issues with Pr Secy

JAMMU, May 19: A delegation of All J&K Graduate Engineers Association, Civil (GEASSOC) today met Principal Secretary, Jal Shakti Deptt, Ashok Kumar Parmar and discussed the brining issues of the engineers.
In the comprehensive meeting held in very congenial atmosphere Principal Secretary expressed that he is keen to redress the genuine demands of engineers for strengthening the department. Burning issues of Engineers viz filling up of vacancies of Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers, Asstt Executive Engineers, Asstt Engineers with details, regularization of services of Engineers at all levels, reorganization of Engineering Deptt with cadre review, issuance of SRO for already approved Assured Career Progression Scheme for Engineers were discussed at length with Parmar.
Apart from this Parmar who is also Chairman of Water Conservation Program also took the view points from the Association regarding water conservation and some important projects in J&K which need special attention.
Gopal Sharma, president, GEASSOC expressed satisfaction over the meeting and highly appreciated some fresh initiatives taken by Pr Secretary, with regard to progression of all the departments under his control including implementation of vital projects under a stipulated time frame. It was learnt during the meeting that soon after taking the charge, Parmar had personal inspection of some key projects under implementation in J&K viz Shahpur Kandi Project in Jammu Region and tried to clear various barriers like acquisition of land, forest clearance and vigorously taking up the matter with the various stake holders.
It was apprised by Association that 11 posts of Chief Engineers which include 7 ex-cadre posts, 17 posts of SEs, 50 posts of Executive Engineers, 151 posts of AEEs, 242 posts of AEs are lying vacant in Jal Shakti Deptt as well as in allied engineering departments viz. JKSPDC, CVPPL, H&UDD, RDD etc consequent upon promotion or retirement at various levels. It was explained that Review of Engineering Cadre is direly needed for better promotion avenues of Engineers which is also a step forward to remove stagnation besides regularization of services of engineers at all levels in Jal Shakti Deptt. It was also narrated that Assured career progression scheme for engineers was approved since long but SRO couldn’t be issued by Finance Department.
Parmar had a patient hearing of all the issues and assured that all the genuine demands will be fulfilled.
