Grameen Bank organizes 51 camps on day-1 of Financial Literacy Week

JAMMU, June 3: Financial Inclusion & Insurance Department under the chairmanship of Janak Raj Angural organized fifty one Financial Literacy & Awareness Programmes under RBI’s promoted Financial Literacy Week, which got underway, today.
All the six Regional Offices of the bank were involved in the conduction of these camps. Out of these fifty one camps; RO Jammu conducted 7, RO Kathua/Samba conducted 3, RO Rajouri/Poonch conducted 8, RO Bandipora conducted 16, RO Baramulla conducted 13 & RO Kupwara conducted 4, thereby, completing coverage of 51 villages on the first day of RBI’s promoted Financial Literacy Week.
Balbir Singh, Sarpanch one of the chief guests at the camp held at village Sohanjana under branch office Phallain, welcomed the gathering and impressed upon them to make best use of available credit services especially for rural sector like KCC crop loan, Dairy Loan, etc. in accordance to their need and requirement.
He encouraged the gathering to approach the Grameen Bank and avail hassle free and reasonable loans under various schemes like KCC, PMEGP, etc. for their overall growth & development.
Jai Krishan Sharma, Branch Head, BO Phallain welcomed the gathering and talked in brief about various social security schemes like APY, PMSBY, PMJJBY, etc. and the positive change these have brought in our day to day lives.
Representatives of Line Departments like KVIB, Animal Husbandry, Agriculture, Education and NRLM also attended the programme besides the huge gathering of students and farmers of the villages.
Other branch heads at their respective locations spread the message of financial literacy and awareness among the population of remote villages.
They enlightened people about new technologies available in the bank such as multiple uses of bank cheques, use of PoS machine, RuPay Debit Card, KCC RuPay Debit Card, Net Banking, Mobile Banking Services, IMPS, and Aadhaar based transactions etc.
