JAMMU, Jan 18: J&K Grameen Bank under the Chairmanship of RK Chhibber in collaboration with NABARD organized a Financial Literacy Awareness Programme on SHGs/JLGs/MUDRA and different social security schemes of Government of India at Village Randhwal in district Samba. During the programme a SHG Bank Linkage project for formation and credit linkage of 150 SHGs was launched through Jammu Women Cooperative Credit Society.
Chairman J&K Grameen Bank, R K Chhibber, who was the chief guest on the occasion, spoke at length about various bank schemes. He apprised that J&K Grameen Bank has formulated a special area based scheme for development of dairy sector wherein the beneficiaries can avail hassle free credit at lower rates. Further, he informed that J&K Grameen Bank has slashed the lending interest rates which are lowest in the market. He emphasized the participants to come forward and avail benefits under various schemes of the bank.
S,S.Bhatoa, DGM NABARD and also the Board of Director of J&K Grameen Bank was the guest of honour on the occasion. He discussed in detail about Self Help Groups (SHG’s) & Joint Liability Groups (JLG’s). He highlighted that Joint Liability Group approach is an effective credit delivery methodology for banks to reach clients like small farmers, marginal farmers, tenant farmers, share croppers, oral lessees and also micro entrepreneurs and therefore an important tool for poverty alleviation and social cohesion.
K L Sharma, Area Manager, J&K Grameen Bank, Samba & Kathua, informed the participants regarding the benefits of newly launched Social Security Schemes named (PMJJBY) Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, (PMSBY) Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and (APY) Atal Pension Yojana.
