Grameen Bank organizes village level programmes on financial literacy

Jammu, July 29: Financial Inclusion & Insurance Department of the J&K Grameen Bank, under the chairmanship of Janak Raj Angural and in collaboration with NABARD, organized village level programmes in branch offices Dulhasti, Rajbagh, Nadh, Purmandal and Duggan.
The programmes were organised on the theme of ‘SHG member’s information about bank linkage, operation of loan accounts and prompt payment concept for NRLM subvention and other available support to SHGs”. Besides gathering of village, the participants of the programme included bank officials, SHG members from the village, NGO workers and SRLM staff.
Ajay Bharti, HoD FIID Department, J&K Grameen Bank, said that the programme intends to impact the gathering regarding importance of interactions between bankers, SHPIs including NGOs and SRLMs and SHG members resulting in better understanding and appreciation of mutual requirements, which will result in improved credit linkage as well as improved recovery. The programmes were also intended to make awareness, especially among women at village level regarding SHG, JLG and other micro credit loans. He also applauded that the bank is making extraordinary efforts to make the national programme of social schemes a big success. He stressed for availing benefits of bank schemes available in hassle free manner.
LDM Kishtwar Sanjeev Gupta, being the chief guest on the occasion, spread awareness among the participants about developments in banking sector and latest schemes. He informed the participants at length regarding the benefits of social security schemes like PMJJBY ( Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana), (PMSBY) Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and (APY) Atal Pension Yojana. He advised the people to avail these benefits through nearest Grameen Bank branch. He also made people aware about the benefits of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana.
All respective Branch Heads emphasized on various facilities of the bank. They described the problems faced specially by the women of the villages due to the unawareness of the availability of simple digital and cashless transaction methods. They impressed upon the participants not to use any middle man for availing any benefit from the bank and approach the bank branch directly. They also stressed upon the social security schemes including APY, PMJJBY and PMSBY.
