Grameen Bank organizes workshop on JLGs, SHGs

BANDOPIRA, Nov 2: J&K Grameen Bank in collaboration with NABARD, conducted workshop on JLGs and SHGs for Branch Heads and Business Correspondents of District Bandipora for formation, promotion and credit linkage of Joint Liability Groups to landless farmers at Kunzer Community Hall, District Bandipora in Kashmir.
Chairman J&K Grameen Bank,  R K Chibber, who was  the chief guest on the occasion, spoke at length about Joint Liability Groups (JLG’s). He highlighted that Joint Liability Group approach is an effective credit delivery methodology for banks to reach clients like small farmers, marginal farmers, tenant farmers, share croppers, oral lessees and also micro entrepreneurs and therefore an important tool for poverty alleviation and social cohesion.
Imtiaz Ahmed Husseni, GM ROK Sopore, J&K Grameen Bank, spoke at length about JLGs and various bank schemes and assured that the targets will be achieved for this year also.
DDM NABARD Rouf Zargar, who was also present, spoke at length about the various schemes of NABARD i.e., Farmer Clubs (FC’s), Self Help Groups (SHG’s) and  Joint Liability Groups (JLG’s).
V K  Sharma, Senior  Manager MF&FI  Department, J&K Grameen Bank, imparted the awareness to participants regarding the benefits  of Joint Liability Groups (JLG’s) for income generation of rural poor  and newly launched Govt security schemes i.e (PMJJBY)  Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, (PMSBY) Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and (APY) Atal Pension Yojana. He further informed the participants that these schemes have been designed to provide security cover to the poor population particularly those working in the unorganized sectors.
