JAMMU, Apr 3: Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti Celebration Committee has announced a series of vibrant and meaningful events to commemorate the 134th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar.
This was revealed by the Committee members while addressing a press conference, here today. The festivities will commence with the Ambedkar-Phule Rally on April 10 starting at 11 AM from Bhagwati Nagar. The rally will traverse key locations in Jammu city, including Canal Road, Jewel, Gumat, Prem Nagar, Gujjar Nagar, and University Road, culminating at Baba Saheb Ambedkar Chowk.
The grand rally will feature a massive bike and car procession, attracting participants from various communities and regions across Jammu and Kashmir. Special arrangements have been made to ensure the comfort of women and elderly participants, and attendees are encouraged to wear blue turbans and scarves in solidarity. The rally will conclude with a community lunch at Baba Saheb Ambedkar Chowk.
Continuing the celebrations, a painting and quiz competition for children will take place on April 13 at Babasaheb Ambedkar Chowk. The event will provide young minds with an opportunity to engage with the values and ideals of Dr Ambedkar through creative expression and knowledge-sharing activities.
The grand festivities will reach their peak on April 14, with the Ambedkar Jayanti Mela, a cultural festival known for drawing large crowds every year. This event will feature performances by renowned artists from J&K and beyond, showcasing the life and mission of Dr Ambedkar.
The celebrations will conclude with a cake-cutting ceremony at 4 PM. The Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti Celebration Committee has invited the people of J&K to join this historic celebration and be part of Dr Ambedkar’s enduring legacy.
