RAMBAN: Department of Fisheries Ramban has stocked ten thousand (10000) Grass carp seed in Sanasar Lake with an aim to develop the carp fish as natural stock.
Another important reason to stock the Grass carp fish in the lake is to enable aquatic weed control. This fish species is mainly found on turbid rivers and associated with flood plain lakes.
Speaking on the occasion AD Fishery Ramban Fayaz Ahmed Fayaz said that controlling aquatic vegetation with grass carp is one of the options available to pond owners with aquatic plant problems. He said in many situations, the use of grass carp is an economical, long lasting, and effective option. However, he said grass carp are not appropriate for ponds with abundant aquatic plants.
