JAMMU, Oct 9: In a grand function organized by Dogra Sadar Sabha, Shakha, Badhori in district Samba under the aegis of DSS, J&K in the memory of Great Dogra Gen Baj Singh, the saviour of Gilgit-Baltistan and naming the Badhori pond as “General Baj Singh Sarovar” unveiled the portrait by Th Gulchain Singh Charak former Minister and president Dogra Sadar Sabha along with Major Gen GS Jamwal (Retd.), Lt General Rakesh Kumar Sharma (Retd.) president J&K Ex-services League, GA Khawaja (Retd DC) and addl general secretary DSS and other prominent Dogras and in presence of large number of people of the area near the Sarovar.
After this, homage was paid to the son of the Soil, the great warrior by the gathering. The special guests Maj. General GS Jamwal, Lt. Gen. Rakesh Kumar Sharma and GA Khawaja threw light on the journey of his life and remembered the other brave hearts of the Duggar Pradesh.
Charak addressing the gathering congratulated the whole public for paying befitting tribute to the late General by naming the pond at his native village as ” General Baj Singh Sarovar ” and appealed to all to wake up and save the heritage and history created by our ancestors giving unparallel numerous sacrifices to create this unique erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir on this earth. He said that the sacrifices and the great deeds of our heroes is the source of inspiration for our generations.
He thanked Prime minister Narender Modi, who during his visit to this region to attend the program at village Palli, had announced that all important institutions especially important Ponds should be preserved and named in the memory of the great personalities of the area which will inspire our youths of the nation.
Charak demanded sufficient funds from the Govt. for renovation and preservation of Gen Baj Singh Sarovar. He further demanded that Govt High School at Badhori be named as General Baj Singh Memorial High School.
The DSS leaders urged the PWD department to properly repair and maintain ”General Baj Singh Marg” i.e link road from Bari Brahamana to village Badhori.
In another resolution the public demanded adequate facilities like Community Health Centre, Veterinary dispensary, Bank branch etc. in the village.
Prominent among those present included Gambhir Dev Singh, DCC Member Suriya Begum, Khajoor Singh, Sarpanch Shehnaz Akhter, Jagdeep Singh, Kulvinder Singh, Haji Allha Rehim and Ashok Charak.
