KOLKATA, Nov 13: City-based IT products start-up GreenField Software is bullish on data centre infrastructure management due to the boom in the big data sector.
“We are probably the only domestic player in the data centre infrastructure management space with our product – GFS Crane,” Founder-Director of GreenField Software Shekhar Dasgupta told.
GreenField Software was set up in 2012 and has made great strides with its flagship product suite, GFS Crane Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) Software, gaining acceptance among large data centre customers, the company said.
The software helps data centres control capital costs and reduce operating costs by allocating and optimising key resources like power, space, cooling and networks, Dasgupta said.
“Data centres, according to multiple studies, are already consuming two per cent of the total utility generated energy in North America and Europe. Energy consumption by power guzzling data centres continues to grow at around 15 per cent annually – far in excess of the overall energy consumption growth rate,” Dasgupta said.
He said the start-up had implemented about ten installations, including CESC Limited as its client. (PTI)
