JAMMU, Oct 25: Greenway, a Mumbai based startup enterprise, launched Greenway Stoves, a range of modern, healthy and eco-friendly stoves that form the ideal replacement for traditional mud stoves.

In Jammu and Kashmir, a staggering 70 per cent of all households continue to cook on traditional mud stoves. Heavy exposure to traditional fuels has significant health consequences, particularly for women and children. Smoke from these stoves is responsible for over 875,000 premature deaths in India every year. It is basically equivalent to smoking 20 cigarettes a day and is known to be the number one health risk amongst South Asian women.
Greenway stoves (Smart Stove and Jumbo Stove) come with a patent-pending air regulator technology that guarantees an impressive fuel saving of 65 per cent. The smoke emitted also reduces by 70 per cent while cooking on any solid biomass fuel such as wood, dry dung, crop waste etc. With smoke emission reduced considerably, as much as two tonnes of CO2 equivalent emission is prevented from entering into the atmosphere every year. It has been tested and certified by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India and Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).
Customer benefits include a sleek design, absence of any moving parts and low maintenance. This highly-convenient design decreases household pollution and reduces cost drastically. Greenway stoves also save time tremendously.
