JAMMU, May 1: Bishnah police arrested two persons including a driver of General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF) along with 200 bags of Government cement meant for the construction of bridge.
As per police sources, on specific information about sale of Government cement meant for the construction of a bridge, a team from Bishnah Police Station conducted raid at village Saidgarh and signaled a tipper of GREF to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the driver accelerated the vehicle and escaped from the spot.
Stinking something fishy, the cops chased the tipper and intercepted it after a chase of around 20 kilometers near the residence of the driver.
During checking, police team recovered and seized 200 bags of Government cement, which the driver of the tipper was selling illegally to another person to make illegitimate profits.
Police team arrested both the persons including the GREF driver.
The arrested persons were identified as Tarsem Lal (GREF driver), son of late Singu Ram of village Kothey Sainian Tehsil Bishnah and Bir Singh, son of Ram Dad’s of village Chakra Tehsil Bishnah.
A case under FIR Number 73/2020 under sections 420, 407, 409 and 120-B IPC has been registered at Police Station Bishnah and investigation has been set into motion which hints towards the involvement of some other officials of the GREF.
However, more arrests in the case cannot be ruled out.
Police team led by SHO Bishnah Inspector Deepak Pathania and assisted by ASI Darshan Lal, HC Yashpaul, SgCt Jaipal Singh, Constable Rakesh Kumar, SPO Rahul Chib, SPO Rakesh Kumar and SPO Dev Raj made the arrests and seized the Government cement bags under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Shabir Khan, SP Headquarters Adil Hamid and SSP Jammu Sridhar Patil.
