JAMMU, May 25: While expressing serious concern over the grenade attack by some militants in Bus Stand area of Jammu last night, the Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) has condemned the heavy shelling by Pakistani troops on the Indian civilians living along the International Border in Samba, Jammu and Kathua districts.
Addressing a press conference here today, the JCCI president Rakesh Gupta also condemned the cowardly act of throwing a grenade last night in heart of Jammu city. The Jammu Chamber chief also conveyed his grave concern on the power scenario and said even after huge spending by the Government of India in the power sector of Jammu & Kashmir, the situation was still grim.

Gupta said that the design of Pakistan establishment to disrupt the communal harmony in the State by their cowardly acts shall not succeed. He further said that such acts by Pakistani agents are just an outcome of frustration as they have failed to disrupt peace and communal harmony in the State of J&K. He appealed to all the sections of the society irrespective of caste, creed and religion to remain united in this hour of need and crisis.
The JCCI president also urges upon the Government to complete the construction of bunkers on war footing in the border areas to avoid the loss of precious lives and property which happens always whenever the borders are in a war like situation. He said that the positive response from the people of Kashmir in lieu of the conditional ceasefire announced by Government of India has left Pakistan frustrated beyond description.
Gupta demanded a judicial enquiry into the power crisis at a time when Jammu is reeling under intense heat of more than 40 degrees Celsius . The Chamber questions the spending of thousands of crores of rupees of tax payers on the power infrastructure in the State which has brought no relief to a common man. The Chamber condemned the poor management and quality and reliability of purchases made for improvement of power infra in the recent years. He said frequent power cuts and tripping has resulted in immense financial loss to the industries. He demanded return of power projects whose agreements have already expired back to the State. The JCCI appealed the Minister for Power, Sunil Sharma to intervene into the matter and bring the culprits to book, fixing responsibility on the highest and the lowest level.
