Jammu, Nov 3: A grenade attack near the Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) in Srinagar’s bustling Sunday Market left 11 civilians injured, sparking strong condemnation from multiple political parties and leaders.
Political figures and parties across the spectrum denounced the attack, voicing concerns over the targeting of civilians in the popular market area. Leaders emphasized the need for strengthened security measures and expressed solidarity with the injured and their families.
Condemning the attack, senior BJP leader and Member Parliament, Gulam Ali Khatana asserted that Modi Government remains unwavering in its commitment to dismantling terrorist networks and securing peace in the region. Khatana emphasized the Government’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism, stating, “Those who target our citizens will face severe repercussions. Our forces have full freedom to counter terrorist groups, and they are empowered to leave no stone unturned in fulfilling this mission.” The MP wished speedy recovery for the injured, urging the district administration to ensure they receive comprehensive support and assistance.
J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) chief Tariq Hameed Karra said, “It was deeply disturbing to learn about the unfortunate and ghastly incident of grenade attack on shopkeepers resulting in injuries to six innocent people. J&K Police must take effective measures to contain such brutal and inhuman attacks, so that the public can move without any fear, Karra added and prayed for speedy recovery of the injured persons.
Apni Party in a statement issued has denounced the attack and called it the worst form of terrorism. “Lobbing a grenade in a busy market is the worst form of terrorism, and it appears that those responsible for this horrific attack aim to create fear among the masses. Security agencies should leave no stone unturned in apprehending the attackers as soon as possible so they can be brought to justice,” the statement read. It further stated, “Apni Party extends its deepest sympathies to those injured in this incident. May Almighty grant them a swift recovery.”
Prominent political leader Vivek Bali strongly condemned this heinous attack on civilians. “There can be no justification for such brutal violence against innocents,” Bali stated, emphasizing that this kind of indiscriminate violence only serves to disrupt the unity and peace of the community. Bali called upon the security forces to intensify their efforts to swiftly bring the perpetrators of this despicable act to justice. He also appealed to all peace-loving citizens of J&K to stand together in solidarity, reject any form of violence, and work towards creating an environment of mutual respect and safety for all.
