Poonch, May 7: Police today recovered four hand grenades, 90 AK bullets and other ammunition from a hideout and the houses of arrested militant associates at Mendhar in Poonch district.
The OGWs already arrested by police have been identified as Mushtaq Ahmed and Nisar Ahmed in a case under FIR number 42/2022 of Police Station Gursai, registered after April 20 Army vehicle ambush attack in Bhatta Dhurrian in which five Army personnel lost their lives and another got injured.
The official said that an operation was launched by police after sustained and professional questioning of the accused person on the disclosure statement of Nisar Ahmed, son of Mohd Shareef and Mushtaq Ahmed, son of Mir Mohd-residents of Gursai Moori.
The duo have been booked in a case under FIR number 42/2023 under Sections 302, 307, 120B, 121, 122, 436 IPC, 3/4 Explosive Substance Act, 7/25, 26/27 Indian Arms Act and 16/18/20 UAPA Act of Police Station Gursai.
He said that during search in the house of arrested OGW Mushtaq Ahmed, two Chinese grenades, one AK magazine, 30 bullets of AK rifle, one hammer and chisel used for construction of hideout and a Pakistan made cigarette packet have been recovered.
From the house of arrested OGW Nisar Ahmed, two Chinese grenades, 60 AK bullets, two AK magazines and Rs 19,000 cash have been recovered.
Similarly, from the hideout used by militants, the recovered material include two blankets, one damaged magazine, 24 AK bullets, one tape recorder, one plastic sheet, two steel plates, two steel glasses, some medicines, dry fruit wrappers, chips and biscuits.
Police informed that further investigation into the matter is going on.
