Elevate yourself through the power of your mind, and not degrade yourself, for the mind can be the friend and also the enemy of the self.
Each of us is endowed with several abilities to varying degrees of competence. We also have different passions to varying degrees of interests. With some effort and experimentation, we should be able to find that sweet spot where we are deeply attracted to something that we are really good at. This is the beginning of personal success, which eventually leads to the creation of something remarkable, something so truly “us”. Given that each of us is unique, if we stuck with ourselves instead of copying others, we’d be able to offer something unique to society.
Self-confidence is a fundamental quality to living an effective, empowered, and fulfilling life. Being conscious of and reliant upon our own powers and abilities is what allows us to think, speak, and act purposefully and believe that we have the inner strength and courage to succeed.
To live a happy life, it is said to follow certain impractical things, like:
* Do your duty, but do not concern yourself with the results.
* The fruits of your actions are not for your enjoyment.
* Even while working, give up the pride of doership.
* Do not be attached to inaction.
But, to be honest, we are humans first. To follow these, we need to be a saint which is practically not possible.
“Just be yourself”, we hear this so much. It sounds like an amazing thing to do, and I have wished many times that I could just do that. What I’ve wondered, though, is what in the world does that mean? Our true self is who we really are when we let go of all of the stories, labels, and judgments that we have placed upon ourselves. It is who we naturally are without the masks and pretentiousness. Everything else that we claim to be when we say, “This is who I am!” is only a story.
In words of Alan Watts- “Waking up to who you are requires letting go of who you imagine yourself to be.”
Intense emotions and strong feelings are a part of everyone’s life. Why does something so common feel so overwhelming? The synthesis of who and what we have emotionally experienced shaped who we are now. Regret leads us to dwell on the past, that gets triggered by something in the present. Sometimes, it’s okay to put a lid on the past. We cannot erase emotional memories, albeit, we can be apprised what activates them.We may be inclined to hold an illusion as truth, especially when seeking pleasure or in matters of the heart. Life is a series of stories, and each one of us has a unique story. We have the power to build the life we want. Emotional strength is like a muscle, the more we use it, the stronger it becomes. Sometimes, we feel lost and other times we feel as if we have conquered the world. At times the laughter is not in our control and other times, we can’t control our tears. To know life, we need to put all the emotions on the plate. Every emotion has it’s own essence. Let’s give life a chance, and it will give us back.
Be a child again- Feel yourself as a child again. Love whatever you wish to do without thinking twice. Do what you wish to because the word impossible is not in your dictionary. But what happened? Somewhere between making paper chains and making a living, life’s magic faded.
Every day is another chance to laugh until it hurts. Then laugh some more. I want you to feel the joy of being carefree again. To giggle. To dance. To laugh so hard you gasp for air. One doesnt need to act childish to be like a child. Just make your mind free. Speak up, speak first and act from the heart without thinking.
Let your thoughts conquer- We all want to be free but are unable to be free. We are so used to live in our comfort zone, that being imprisoned feels safer. Fear, routine, procrastination, busyness, comparing to others, and self-doubt, – that’s why we keep what we love behind bars. Our mind is the most powerful tool we have for the creation of good in our life. Our thoughts affect our identity.
“Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.”- Mahatma Gandhi
Define your purpose- When we know our purpose in life, we tend to live a meaningful and happy life. We become aware of what we want in life, wherever we are leading to and where is our destination. It doesn’t have to be a particular purpose, but the way we live.
Joy is the way to finding our purpose. No one who’s miserable, exhausted and rageful can find the energy to even feel or see their purpose.
Live life with no regrets- Regrets only stay if we let it live in. Everyday we are figuring out more and more about who we are or what we want in this one life that we live. Let’s try to be happy with what all we are doing. We are human beings, and we can only try to be good but, we should know, perfection doesn’t exist.
Work hard, try to be truthful, believe in yourself and have some fun too.
There are no regrets in life, just lessons- Jennifer Aniston
Who am I? What do I want? What am I here for? These are the questions that haunt everyone of us. Having a concrete sense of self is an essential part of our existence. Human beings are dynamic. Just because we believe in one thing doesn’t mean we can’t believe in another. We are surrounded by more beautiful, more successful, and more appealing versions of ourselves. It’s easy not to like oneself and be fascinated by someone else’s personality. But, by doing this, we will only hinder our growth and will prevent ourselves from discovering our true selves.
Just remember, we are beautifully unique individuals with varying personalities. This makes the world so beautiful with different people of different perspectives.
Nothing is more beautiful than
‘ being yourself’
