Group clash averted; 3 arrested, weapons seized

JAMMU, Feb 3: Police today averted a group clash and arrested three persons along with a gun and sharp edged weapon.
Giving details of the incident, police spokesman said that after verbal duel over an issue of work on pond in the locality, four members of a family led by Mohd Saleem, son of Fazal Hussain hit one Abid Iqbal, son of Mohd Iqbal at Sunjwan under the jurisdiction of Trikuta Nagar Police Station.
Later, the family members of Mohd Saleem pelted stones and barged into the house of victim with 12 bore gun and sharp edged weapons. Before the accused party could cause any physical damage to the victim’s party, a police party led by SDPO S S Sambyal swung into action and averted the bloody clash.
Three persons namely Mohd Saleem, son of Fazal Hussain, his son Mohd Rafiq and Mohd Iqbal, son of Mohd Rafiq were arrested along with a gun and a sharp edged weapon. Two persons namely Gafoor, son of Saleem and Rashid, son of Fazal Din managed to escape from the spot and a hunt has been launched to nab them.
A case under Section 4/25 and 3/25 Arms Act, 452, 336, 147, 148 and 149 RPC has been registered in this connection.
