GSI organises workshop on ‘Application of NGCM data and NGDR’

JAMMU, Jan 30: Geological Survey of India (GSI) J&K and Ladakh today organized a workshop on ‘Application of National Geochemical Mapping (NGCM) data and National Geo-science Data Repository (NGDR)’.
The workshop was organised to provide a platform to the participants to learn about the application of NGCM data gathered over the years by GSI with case studies/success stories relevant to J&K and Ladakh respectively and data available at NGDR portal and its potential applications.
The workshop was attended by representatives from different institutions like SKUAST, Jammu; Directorate of Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare, Jammu; IIT Jammu; National Institute of Hydrology, Jammu; Central University, Jammu; University of Jammu; MAM College, Jammu; Cluster University, Jammu; Department of Geology and Mining, Jammu; Department of Ecology, Environment and Remote Sensing, Jammu; State Pollution Control Board, J&K; Centre Ground Water Board, Jammu; University of Ladakh and Department of Geology and Mining, Ladakh.
The workshop was conducted under the chairmanship of N.V Nitnaware, Additional Director General and HoD, NR, GSI, Lucknow and was convened by P.S Misra, Dy. DG, J&K and Ladakh, GSI.
Retired senior officers of GSI also participated in the workshop and shared their knowledge.
The workshop also provided an opportunity to the participants to interact with experts in the field and share their experiences.
During workshop, discussion and deliberations were held on NGCM data generated by the GSI and NGDR accessibility and its use by the different stakeholders for the societal benefit.
