GSLV launch

Sir,
It is a heartening experience that India joined the big league of space powers with the launch of Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle on GSLV-D5. It is reported that the launch will give a big boost to space technology and will reduce dependence on foreign countries.
Scientists fondly call the GSLV, the ‘naughty boy’ of India’s space programme. This is because the scientists had been facing many problems in launching GSLV. Out of earlier seven launches, only three had been successful. The launch of Chandrayaan, Mangalyaan and now GSLV, bear testimony to the fact that India’s space rocket technology has matured and come of age.
The scientists involved in the launch of the vehicle deserve all appreciation and they should be suitably honoured.
Yours etc…
