SRINAGAR, Nov 15: Under GST Awareness programme, Commissioner State Taxes Department, Dr Rashmi Singh today visited Kokernag area in Anantnag district and presided over one-day GST awareness-cum-training workshop.
Speaking during the workshop, the Commissioner said that the department is committed towards conducting capacity building workshops and other exercises required to enhance revenue generation but all stakeholders need to equip themselves fully to ensure tax compliance behaviour.
She also acknowledged support provided by Chief Secretary Dr Arun Kumar Mehta in ensuring strict compliance of GST requirements by all DDOs especially those handling works contracts. She emphasized upon the DDOs that they shall adhere to the timelines in filing their returns so that the revenue due to the Government does not get delayed because of late filing of the returns.
Assistant Commissioner State Taxes (Technical), Waseem Raja on the occasion gave a detailed presentation on GST and its various aspects. He also addressed queries raised by the concerned officials regarding GST registration, returns, Tet, among others.
Deputy Commissioner State Taxes Recovery, Shakeel Maqbool; Deputy Commissioner, State Taxes (Enforcement), South Kashmir, Shahnawaz Shah, senior officers of the State Taxes Department and other concerned officials were also present during the workshop.
