GSTWA discusses problems, demands of Gaddi Sippi tribes

UDHAMPUR, Feb 20: A session of delegates of All J&K Gaddi Sippi Tribes Welfare Association (GSTWA) was held here at a hotel in which delegates of the Association from State executive body as well as all from subordinate units of districts Kathua, Udhampur, Doda, Ramban and Jammu participated and discussed various problems and demands.
On this occasion, MLA Bani, Jeevan Lal, was the chief guest while State president of the Association, Parveen Jaryal, presided over the session. The participants threw light on various problems and predicaments being faced by the marginalized and transhumant Gaddi and Sippi tribes and their remedial measures were also suggested.
In his address, Jeevan Lal demanded abolition of all sub categories of ST category so as to ensure equal opportunities of development for all ST communities irrespective of their ethnicity. He also demanded establishment of Gaddi Sippi Advisory Board and Gaddi Sippi hostels one each at Ramban, Kathua, Jammu, Bani and Bhadarwah.
While addressing the delegates, Jaryal appealed Governor NN Vohra to sympathetically address the issues of Gaddi and Sippi tribes.
