Guard withdraws Rs 33 lakh from hospital account

SRINAGAR, Aug 18: A private security guard employed at the District Hospital Kulgam in South Kashmir is under investigation for allegedly orchestrating a fraudulent withdrawal of Rs. 33 lakhs from the hospital’s official account.
An official said that the security guard, Gouhar Ahmad Thakur son of Abdul Rashid Thakur resident of Souch Kulgam, working at DH Kulgam for the last six years, was using falsified signatures, including those of the Medical Superintendent (MS) and others, to carry out the illicit withdrawal.
He said that the Medical Superintendent became aware of the substantial sum of money withdrawn from the account without his authorization and promptly reported the matter to the police.
“Subsequently, upon discovering the incident, the hospital administration swiftly lodged a complaint with the police,” the official said.
The official said that an FIR (148/2023 U/S 467, 468 and 471 IPC) was lodged in the Police Station Kulgam in the incident.
