‘Guest Control Order’ is need of hour: Zulfkar

JAMMU, Jan 1: Pledging to get Guest Control Order implemented, Minister for Consumer Affairs, Public Distribution, Tribal Affairs and Legal Metrology Department Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali today said that implementation of this order will provide big relief to majority of population in Jammu & Kashmir.
“The matter is debatable and we will discuss the same with all stake holders before taking step of its implementation in J&K”, the Minister said while interacting with a deputation of various leaders of different organizations headed by Vinod Kumar Gupta, President Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha.
The deputationists comprising Jagdish Dogra President Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Jammu, VP Sharma President Dogra Brahmin Sabha, Narian Singh President Amar Kshatriya Rajput Sabha, RN Gandotra President Kshatriya Sabha, Yash Pal Gupta President Chamber of Commerce, Bodh Raj Rao, President All J&K Maha Sabha, Dewan Chand Agarwal President Agarwal Sabha, Maruru Lal President Kashyap Rajput Sabha, Sat Pal President Saryara Sabha, Kamal Kumar President Barwala Biradari, Er. AK Manawa President Prajapati Sabha, Gurdev Singh President All J&K SAC, Ajeet Khajuria President Khajuria Biradari, ND Rajwal General Secretary Nabha Dass Trust, Kamal Singh President Jat Kalyan Sabha, Vijay Kumar Lochan Ex- President Ravi Dass Sabha, Dr Susheel Kumar Chairman Barwala Sabha, Yash Pal Gupta President Mahajan Sabha Nanak Nagar, Bansi Lal Chowdhary Convenor OBC Maha Sabha, Anoop Mittal General Secretary Aggarwal Sabha, Vinod Malhotra and Ram Pal Seth and Acharya Dev Parkash presented a memorandum of demands to Minister.
The deputationists highlighted the issue of Guest Control Order and requested Minister to get the same implemented on ground after getting the court stay vacated.
After listening patiently to the deputation, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali termed this order as important for middle class and low class society. He said that unnecessary expenditures in marriages and other events have become big issue which is affecting majority of people especially middle class and downtrodden sections.
Wishing to get the order implemented, Minister said that Guest Control Order is presently stayed by the court and government will take certain measures to get the same vacated. He said that he want to debate on the issue with all stake holders including Banquet Hall owners and other stake holders who are opposing this order. He said that a middle path can be adopted and this Order can be implemented in consultation with all.
The Minister said that there is need to curtail the number of guests and dishes to be served in the marriages and other functions which can relax poor people who spend beyond their means and later underwent mental agony, frustration and tension.
