Gujarat-J&K gas pipeline to be completed in 36 months

SRINAGAR, Aug 8: Rs 880 crore gas pipeline project from Gujarat to Jammu and Kashmir will be completed within 36 months.
This was revealed by the officials of Gujarat State Petronet Ltd (GSPL) during the power point presentation made in a high-level meeting chaired by Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla here today. Minister of State for Revenue, Nasir Aslam Wani was also present in the meeting.
The GSPL officials highlighted importance of laying Rs 880 Crore Gas Pipeline project from Gujrat to Jammu and Kashmir and its benefits to the people of the state. They said that project has to be completed in 36 months while the survey of the said project has already been completed.
The meeting was also informed the completion of project will bring cheers on the faces of the people of this Valley, who face many difficulties when the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, the only road linking the Valley with the rest of the country, gets closed due to heavy snowfall.
It was informed that the project will provide gas connectivity to Kathua, Jammu, Samba, Udhampur, Ramban, Anantnag and Srinagar. The pipeline will also attract investments in its and this would help in the overall economic growth of the State. Moreover, the gas connectivity will also help in developing industries, which in turn create job opportunities for the local people.
This will also help to develop CNG corridors along Railway and National Highways and would fuel economic growth of the State. The project will also be a great boost for power sector, transport and household, which ultimately have a huge impact on the State’s economy.
Commissioner Secretary, Revenue, B A Rounyal, Financial Commissioner Revenue, K B Aggrwal, Commissioner Secretary Law, G  H  Tantary, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Pardeep Gupta, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Asgar Samoon, and representatives of the Gujrat State Petronet Ltd and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
