‘Gear up for elections, strengthen party’

JAMMU, Dec 9: Asserting that hurdles in the path of holding Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir have been removed, BJP national general secretary, in charge J&K, Tarun Chugh today said polls in the UT would be held shortly.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of party office bearers and newly elected district presidents, Prabharis and Seh Prabharis meeting at BJP Headquarters Trikuta Nagar here today, Chug said “I am confident that Assembly elections in the UT will be held soon,”.
He said the BJP’s landslide victory in the Gujarat elections was the people’s blessings to Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and victory in Gujarat is trailer for Lok Sabha elections of 2024 and coming Assembly elections in J&K UT. He exuded confidence that what happened in Gujarat in recent Assembly polls would definitely happen in J&K in coming Assembly elections as people of this UT trust PM, Narendra Modi as the masses of Gujarat trust and love him.
He said BJP is always ready for elections round the year, adding that the hurdles in the way of holding the elections in J&K have already been removed.
“Delimitation has taken place. The enrollment of votes has also taken place. The voters’ list will be given to political parties for filing their objections, according to the Election Commission (of India’s) procedure,” he added.
The BJP unit has raised the demand to conduct elections and party is also committed to that, he said.
Replying to a question on the BJP’s record victory in Gujarat, Chug said, “It is to support him to continue doing the good work for this nation to make this country a world power. Such blessings will continue in the elections in Jammu and Kashmir and for the Parliament,” he added.
The BJP leader said people would bless Modi and the margin in 2024 would be much higher than in 2019. He said “People blessed him in 2014 and Modi repeated the 2014 victory in 2019 and the margin of 2024 will be much higher,’’.
In response to another question Chug without giving any date or time frame said the BJP Central leaders will visit J&K as they have visited in past. Home Minister, Amit Shah visited twice and party national president, J P Nadda visited four times and they will continue to visit in future too, he added.
In reply to another question that statements are coming that BJP will repeat Gujarat type victory in J&K , the party national general secretary said that mere statements don’t work but every activist of the party has to go to people and work in this direction.
He said BJP J&K president, Ravinder Raina will definitely go to people with party’s policies and programmes and ensure that what happened in Gujarat will happen here also.
He said the dynamic leadership of Narendra Modi and his decisiveness, his fight against poverty, war against social evils and pandemic are yielding fruit and people want Narendra Modi to continue as head of the Government in future too.
Later, addressing the office bearers meeting, Chug dropped enough hints about holding of Assembly elections in the UT by next year and asked the party activists to gear up for the same by strengthening the party from grassroots i.e booth level to ensure its landslide victory in the coming elections.
He asked the party workers to work with dedication as well as devotion and penetrate in every segment of society to seek their vote and support. He made it clear to party activists that they should keep one thing in mind that they are not fighting the elections against the Congress, NC and PDP but they are fighting them to strengthen the Indian narrative on Kashmir.
“We are going to fight the elections to create a new narrative in the UT of J&K and set at rest the 70 years narrative of unrest. Those forces who are opposing annulling of Article 370 and those who support the anti national agenda are to be curtailed and anti national elements are to be defeated so that they can never raise their ugly head,’’ the BJP national general secretary said.
Maintaining that every party activist is important, he urged them to focus on basic work and surrender before the party’s ideology of nationalism. He asked the party men to have their outreach to maximum people and ensure that Mann Ki Baat of Prime Minister is heard on every booth. On the occasion, an App on Mann Ki Baat was also launched.
Taking a dig at opposition parties, he said the narrative created by Aam Aadmi Party on Gujarat polls has been rejected. He said even BJP vote percentage is encouraging in Himachal and party activists worked tirelessly there too.
Besides Tarun Chug, J&K BJP president Ravinder Raina, BJP national secretary, Dr. Narinder Singh, BJP J&K Seh-Prabhari, Ashish Sood, former State presidents Jugal Kishore Sharma, Shamsher Singh Manhas and Sat Sharma, general secretaries, Vibodh Gupta and Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal addressed the meeting.
Ravinder Raina congratulated Tarun Chug, who campaigned intensiely in Gujarat for the unprecedented victory. He said that Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s vision and leadership has brought historic victory for party in Gujarat.
“Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas mission of Modi Government has brought brilliant results for BJP. The same trend will be followed in Jammu & Kashmir, where BJP will secure brilliant results and will provide Chief Minister on its own in Jammu & Kashmir,” said Raina.
Party Seh Prabhari for J&K, Ashish Sood asked the party leaders to sharpen their organizational skills. He said that the BJP leaders must adopt the approach of new politics for the welfare of the society and nation. He also stressed on the focused working on the booths by the party leaders.
BJP leaders Rajeev Sharma, Sanjay Baru, Ishant Mahajan and Ankit Gupta also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, meeting began with the Vande Mataram and organizational song sung by Dr. Pardeep Mahotra. Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal conducted the proceedings.
