RAJOURI, Apr 21: The inmates of Gujjar Bakarwal Hostel, Rajouri held protest in the hostel premises on Monday.
They were demanding that their classes be continued in the hostel only. The protesting children said that the students from 6th class to 8th class were studying in the hostel for the last 10 years.
The teachers used to come to teach them inside the hostel premises and due to this, they did not waste time in going to school. They said that this time for the last few days, the hostel warden has issued instructions to go to school and study there instead of holding classes in the hostel.
They also said that Rajouri’s Government Middle School for Boys is about 2 km away from their hostel where they have to walk to reach and their time is wasted. They appealed to the District administration and Education department to continue the tradition of holding classes in the hostel so that their time is not wasted.
In this regard, the hostel warden Mohammad Rafiq said that for the last 10 years, children from hostel to class 8 were studying in the hostel, but their names were registered in the Government Middle School for Boys. Now, a few days ago, after the instructions of the Education Minister, the department has decided that no classes will be held in the hostel and all the children will study in the school in an open environment.
After the instructions of the Minister, the Director School Education has issued instructions that children should be sent to schools for studies and the same order is being followed. The students are strongly opposing this order. Some of the students, disclosed that on the instigation of a few staff members, they held the protest.
