JAMMU, Aug 29: Students from Gujjar Bakerwal community who were on forefronts of protests and tribal March from last two years, joined together and announced a new student organisation named as Gujjar Bakerwal Students Alliance Jammu and Kashmir.
Bilal Rashid of Jammu University will remain the Chief Patron of the organisation and Shahid Ayoub, a research scholar from Rajouri, was unanimously nominated as President of GBSA.
State team includes Aryan Chowdhary from Uri and Nahila Falak as Vice Presidents; Tahir Mehmood Chowdhary, Sakib Chowdhury and Ishaq Chowdhary as General Secretaries; Zafar Iqbal from Reasi as Secretary, Amir Khatana from Jammu as Chief Spokesperson and Shabir Chowdhary as Additional Spokesperson.
Rafaqat Choudhary, senior research fellow from Punjabi University Patiala has been nominated as Chief Advisor while Azhar Sultani and Sharaz Ul Islam were appointed as Social media coordinators.
Noted student leader and a leading face of ST Bachao Andolan Murtaza Kamal Bhadana has been nominated as President of Jammu Province while Ahsan Ul Haq will act as Vice President, Sarfaraz Ahmed and Irfan Chowdhury have been nominated as General Secretaries. Qudratullah Shohab was appointed as spokesperson of the team and many others have been given different responsibilities. Kashif Chowdhary is the president of District Jammu and Imtiaz Chowdhary is president for District Reasi while Zulafqar Inquillabi has been nominated as the president for Dogra Law College.
Main purpose of the organisation is to work for the downtrodden and marginalised tribal student community in Jammu and Kashmir which has been exploited and used for electoral gains till date.
While addressing the gathering, Shahid Ayoub, president of the Students Alliance, extended full support to the Mahapanchayat which is scheduled for 10th of September in Srinagar.
On the occasion, Social Media influencer Aisha Gujjar and Artist, singer and famous Gojri rapper Amir Chouhan who hails from Poonch, joined as guests while noted Journalist Amir Sohail joined as guest of honour.
GBSA promised to work for the betterment of community students and raise all the importance issues concerning students like reservation in Universities and colleges, hostel accommodation, timely disbursal of scholarship, opening of tribal research centres, timely survey of community to count the exact numbers, accountability of Gujjar Bakerwal Hostels and mobile schools.
